Gamecloud has an interview with Russell Williams from Flying Lab about 'Pirates of the Burning Sea':
Gamecloud - First, Pirates of the Burning Sea has been in development for a while now. How do you feel the game has progressed since the team's original design?

Russell Williams - We have come a long way and learned a lot of lessons. Our game systems have gone through several generations of design, testing, and revision, and we've logged countless hours sailing and fighting each other. When we began the project, there were just four employees: a programmer, two designers, and a producer. We started with a small, focused group to work on gameplay vision and system architecture. Now we have forty people working on the project. The majority of that growth has happened in the last year, as we've refined and expanded our vision for the game. Our ambitions for cutting-edge graphics, strategic PvP gameplay, and intense real-time ship combat have all been realized, and now we're sprinting towards beta.
