Xecuted has kicked up a review of NCsoft's 'Lineage II: The Chaotic Chronicle'. The score is 36/50 and here's the intro:
When MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Role Playing Games) began to surface a few years back, critics have come to determine that reviewing one is quite a different discipline than other games. The first reviews of such games as Asheron’s Call or Everquest became sort of “journals” as these games were often judged by the experience within them. Due to this identity crisis, critics that had similar opinions about one MMORPG were as elusive as the Abominable Snowman. Readers were often confused and could not decide which would be the right one for them. This conundrum often was a result of these games having huge social elements to them, the experience of which was inevitably determined by how well you got along with other players within the games. Significant number of people agree, Final Fantasy XI’s success is quite largely due to the fact that many of its players are long time fans of the series that are more than willing to help others who are new to the world. Of course, it helps that, although not fantastic, the game’s gameplay features are never troublesome to most players.
