IGN also has a preview of 'Dungeons & Dragons Online' in case you just can't get enough...I think it was the Beastie Boys who said "Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your hair, so I can climb up and get into your underwear." But even more importantly, and several thousand times more relevant to this story, the quote "What comes around goes around" comes to mind.
Computer RPGs have been around for decades. But before role-playing games hit the digital world, they were played with dice on tabletops in basements and on college campuses, and the game that started it all was Dungeons & Dragons. While there have been lots of computer adaptations of D&D over the years, the original RPG has yet to see an MMO based in its universe...but all that is about to change. Atari, Wizards of the Coast and Turbine, the folks behind both Asheron's Call games and the upcoming Middle-Earth Online, are working on Dungeons & Dragons Online, and it looks like the RPG that inspired them all is finally going to get an MMO of its own. |
